series of shots of Ss. Kiril i Metodij, the main university here in Macedonia. This sort of brutal, concrete, communist-modern wretchedness is all over Skopje, because the socialist dreamers had a wonderful opportunity to rebuild an entire city after the destructive 1963 earthquake. Take the post office building on the main square, for instance:

I'm contemplating readjusting my research proposal to determine the links between Power Ranger Command Center architecture and Tito's utopian Yugoslav vision.
If you somehow connect this path of research with your observation that living in Macedonia is living in late seventies/early eighties semi-rural America, it will be a contribution to scholarship on the order of a unified theory of physics or an effective anti-viral. Sir, I salute your project!
ReplyDeleteThe building exterior itself is actually the House of the Book building at the Brandeis-Bardin Institute, located in the city of Simi Valley in southern California. The twin-peaked mountain where the Command Center/Power Chamber is supposed to lie is the Vasquez Rocks.
